In our tour product system, we’ve got two categories of China tours: off-the-peg tours and tailor-made tours. The off-the-peg tours are the China tour packages that you see on this website. Our tailor-made China tours are the ones you follow after a series of customizations based on the communication between you and our China trip consultants (China tour experts).

For each of our off-the-peg China tour, from a one-day tour in a certain city or region to a multi-regional long tour, from a sight-seeing tour to a cultural experience, from a foodie trip package to a photography expedition, we don’t copy other ones’, we create them by ourselves.

Firstly, we take FAM tours ourselves. FAM is short for familiarization. We don’t believe that we are able to attract and persuade you to travel with us to places that we don’t know much. In all the popular tourist cities and our target destinations, we’ve got our local offices and representees. It is them who organize and carry out the FAM tours. It is them who offer tons of information (including files, pictures, videos, etc.), which are with great significance in the procedure of creating a tour.

Secondly, we manage and process all we have to tour packages. We need to choose the worthiest places of interest from a lot of its sort in each city/region. We figure out the hotels at different grades, distribute them to the different demand market. We also filtrate the local restaurants that are with various flavors to meet customers’ taste diversity. In order to highlight our tour’s features of experience-orientation and participation, we also add some local cultural activities, such as a handcraft class in a local workshop, in our tour package.

At last, we publish the tour packages on our website with some graphic designs, to make the presentation clear and neat. Always, illustration pictures will be added.

Upon receiving a confirmation e-mail from your travel consultant, your China tour is successfully booked. We understand that most of you will say, “oh, we can’t wait to go…” So, what do we do? We can’t wait to welcome you in China as well!

Before your departure date of your China trip, all the bookings will have been done. We’ve confirmed every detail of the entire tour by communicating with all the third-party providers throughout the trip, such as hotels, vehicles, restaurants, places of interests, cultural activities, local families we plan to visit, etc. Mostly importantly, all the tour guides are ready.

For a party of less than 10 travelers (hereinafter refer to as small group), there will be no tour escort going with. In each city or region, there will be a local tour guide to accompany the small group during its stay in that city or region. For a party of 10+ travelers (hereinafter refer to as large group), there will mostly come a tour escort to be with the group throughout the trip. Meanwhile, in each city or region, there will still be a local tour guide who interprets the local culture for you during your stay in his/her city or region. That means, for a large group, in each city or region, there will be two English-speaking guys who take care of you.

On one hand, China Expedition Tours will strictly carry out all the services according to the last agreed tour proposal. On the other hand, some of the tour activities, especially some outdoor ones may be affected by the weather, traffic conditions and more. In order to ensure you a safe and enjoyable trip, China Expedition Tours may adjust the order of some of the trips (without reducing the agreed content or standard) or make reasonable adjustments to some of the specific parts of the tour. In such a circumstance, we would appreciate your understanding greatly.

Sometimes, you may have some spare time after finishing the planned activities for a certain day, you may want to visit more, see more and do more. What shall you do? Before talking about CET’s tour guides, let’s say something about China’s tour guide history. There was no concept of “tour guide” in Chinese people’s mind some 45 years ago. The name “tour guide” came to us with the emergence of inbound tourism of China in middle 1970s. Foreign language graduates from university were the most important source of foreign language speaking tour guides. They’ve been playing one of the most significant roles in China’s inbound tourism industry for decades. With the development of China’s society and economy, Chinese people started to travel domestically and abroad. Tour guides who speak Mandarin Chinese stepped onto the historical stage. They’ve also contributed a lot to China’s domestic and outbound tourism.

By the end of 2019 (before the break out of Covid-19), we’ve got more than 40 full-time and more than 100 half-time foreign language speaking tour guides all over this country. Among them, 70% are English-speaking, and the rest are French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Russian. Our English-speaking guides all have a great command of English, especially spoken English. They understand your oral English even with your accent. Accommodation is one of the most important factors during a China tour or a China holiday.

When your China tour is more sight-seeing oriented, a comfortable hotel will be helpful for your refreshment after a long day tour, especially the tour with biking, hiking, and other active activities. When the trip is more of a leisure holiday for relaxing, especially for families with kids, a well-located, safe, welcoming, and hospitable hotel will be great.

So, there are no best hotels, there are only best hotels for a certain type of traveler. We recommend and choose hotels according to our customers. For family tours, we always choose children-friendly brand hotels or homestay guesthouses that have connected rooms or family suites, children’s swimming pools, and other facilities specifically arranged for kids. For tours with seniors, hotels, or homestay guesthouses that are close to a hospital and with elevators and other accessible facilities are very necessary. For a high school student group, an international standard hotel with a great number of same-sized and same-equipped rooms always works out well. For a short tour (2-4 days) in an area, we can arrange our customers to stay in a local home from the beginning to the end. For a long China tour of more than a week, we may choose a local home for our customer’s stay for 1 or 2 nights instead of a hotel. What do we do during the homestay time? Just imagine a video in your mind. “Check in” to your host’s apartment or house after lunch. Go to the rooms the host prepared for you. Then follow the hostess to walk to a local market to buy all the materials and ingredients for the dinner. Come back home and follow the hostess to cook your own homemade Chinese meal. That is a real Chinese meal! Enjoy your dinner and then have a chat with the host while sipping some Chinese tea in an authentic way. The host always tells lots of stories about his family, about his town or city. If you are okay, follow them to have a walk in the nearby community. The next morning, some typical local breakfast is ready when you wake up. Follow the host and hostess to do some morning exercises or simply jog and talk in a nearby park. Enjoy a local lunch before leaving them. You maybe have already become friends and keep in touch for a long in the future.

We spend a lot of time choosing the host homes. They must speak some English. They must be very friendly, hospitable, honest, open-minded, outgoing, and cheerful. Their homes must be spacious enough with plenty of rooms, and always be kept clean and tidy. The host or hostess should be a great cook and love cooking. Therefore, when we talk about homestay here, it doesn’t always mean staying overnight in a local home. Sometimes, visiting and staying in a local home or a community for a half day or whole day is also a type of homestay experience. As you really “stay” in a local home and immerse yourself in the local life. Sometimes, staying overnight in a property that is between a local home and a guesthouse is also a kind of homestay experience. It’s in a local community or a village.
