Planning your trip to Luoyang? Understanding your transportation options is essential for exploring this historic city efficiently. As travel consultants at CET who've organized hundreds of Luoyang tours, we're sharing our insider knowledge to help you navigate the ancient capital with confidence.

Luoyang Beijiao Airport (LYA) serves both domestic and limited international routes. The airport is located approximately 10 kilometers north of downtown Luoyang, making it easily accessible.
Direct flights from major cities: Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Chengdu, and Hangzhou:
Airlines:: China Southern, China Eastern, Air China, and Hainan Airlines
International connections:: Limited seasonal routes to Bangkok and Seoul
Airport Shuttle Bus: ¥25 per person, runs every 30-40 minutes from 6:00 AM to final flight arrival. Stops at major hotels and Luoyang Railway Station
Taxi/Didi: ¥40-60 to city center (20-30 minutes). We recommend using Didi (China's Uber) for transparent pricing
Hotel Transfers: Many hotels offer pickup services for ¥100-150
CET Insider Tip: Based on our frequent trips to Luoyang, we actually recommend taking the high-speed rail from Xi'an or Zhengzhou over flying – it's more reliable, takes you directly to the city center, and offers better value.
Luoyang Railway: High-Speed & Regular Trains
Luoyang's railway system is the most convenient way to reach the city from major destinations.

Luoyang Longmen Station (our recommended arrival point):
◦ Xi'an: 1.5-2 hours, ¥174.5 (second class)
◦ Zhengzhou: 40 minutes, ¥69.5
◦ Beijing: 4-4.5 hours, ¥434.5
◦ Shanghai: 6-7 hours, ¥524.5
Luoyang Station (central):

From Station to City:

While we generally recommend trains for comfort and reliability, long-distance buses serve smaller cities without rail connections.
Important Note: We don't recommend long-distance buses for international travelers due to limited English signage and irregular schedules. For trips to Shaolin Temple, consider booking a CET private tour for convenience.
Luoyang's metro system is relatively new and expanding. Currently operational:
Extensive network covering all major attractions:

Mobile Payment: WeChat Pay and Alipay are essential. Cash is increasingly difficult to use. Set up mobile payments before arrival or ask your hotel for assistance.
Based on organizing Luoyang tours since 2008, here's our expert advice:

1. Xi'an to Luoyang: High-speed rail (1.5 hours) – scenic and stress-free
2. Beijing to Luoyang: G-train if time permits, flight if rushed
3. Within city: Didi for flexibility, metro for major routes
Luoyang is reasonably accessible, but note:
Luoyang's public transportation is very safe. However:
